Student resumes and candidate selection
Resumes and internship guidelines will be posted in mid-December. If you are interested in interviewing students and need the password to access student resumes, email Leslie Coonrod. We recommend selecting candidates by January 15th to ensure you have priority for interviewing students, but you may continue to select students until all candidates have been placed. Resumes will be removed from Dropbox as students accept offers, starting February 19th.
After you fill out the Interview Selection Form, we will email your selected unblinded resumes.
Interviews
Scheduling in-person interviews
If you elect to join us on Feb 1 for in-person interviews, we will help coordinate your interviewing schedule for that day. If you cannot fit all your selected interviews into one day, you are welcome to finalize your interviews remotely. Be sure to note that you are “interested in interviewing students” in person, and choose the optional in-person interview event on your Genomics in Action registration to hold your slot.
Scheduling remote interviews
Partners will use contact information from resumes to schedule remote interviews directly with students.
We recommend that remote interviews:
- be held over a platform that allows for video (Zoom, Teams, etc.) and that all parties have video on
- occur in the two weeks following the meeting (Feb 3-14, 2025)
- be 30-minutes in length
Making offers to students
Our partners are welcome to make formal internship offers to our students on or after Wednesday, February 19th at 8:00 AM PST. Official offers should be emailed to the student and Leslie Coonrod (coonrod@uoregon.edu) and Laura McKnight (lmcknigh@uoregon.edu), and include information on compensation, start date, fringe benefits (if applicable) and mentor/organization. We are happy to advise.
To be fair to all partners, we’ve asked the students to respond to the first round of offers no later than Friday, February 21st at 8:00 AM PST. They have been asked not to accept soft offers.
Partners should be prepared to make multiple rounds of offers if they would like to maximize chances of hiring an intern.
